I am quite possibly the biggest East Coast pizza snob. In fact, I've been known to say things like, "outside of Italy, the only places to get a decent pizza are New York and Chicago." I gag at the thought of "California Pizza Kitchen," feel that there are only a grand total of about 10 toppings that have justifiable business anywhere near a pizza, and can't ever remember purchasing a frozen pizza. O.K., so maybe I'm a little too serious about pizza. In any case, Milano's on 9th has me recanting all of that a bit. The crust, by far the most crucial part of a good pie, is a perfect thickness and texture and rivals that of some of Brooklyn's best. It's cooked to perfection in a brick oven - leave the conveyor belts to the generic, fast-food bland blech of Domino's. The sauce, although not quite like Mom would make, has good flavor and is distributed liberally as is the cheese.
